Terranea Resort is looking for a few budding fashion designers. As part of the resort's unique programming for kids and teens, Terranea is partnering with Emmy-nominated Hollywood costume designer Jill Ohanneson to offer a series of Fashion Design Camps in California. The kid and teen fashion camps will be held December 19-23 and December 26-30, 2009 at this resort near Hollywood.


“Terranea's proximity to Hollywood and the Los Angeles fashion industry make the property uniquely suited to offer a fashion camp,” says Ohanneson.

The collection is designed by Liliana Casabal who is currently designing costumes for the New York City Ballet under the direction of Peter Martins for Naive and Sentimental Music by John Adams, set to open at the Metropolitan Opera on November 24th.


The fashion show was inspired by an ancient Welsh myth of fairy queen Rhiannon who defied her family and gave up her divinity to marry a mortal prince for love. That inspiration was delivered in a variety of silk chiffons,cheap ralph lauren polo, organza, wool gauze, Japanese lace, organic cotton jersey and Italian stretch cotton and raincoat nylon. J. Crew Group, Inc. announced that the Company is raising both its guidance for the third quarter of fiscal 2009 ending October 31, 2009, and its outlook for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009 ending January 30,cheap ralph lauren polo, 2010.


The Company's improved third quarter guidance reflects stronger than anticipated sales and margin trends in the third quarter. For the third quarter of fiscal 2009,Ralph lauren outlet, the Company currently expects diluted earnings per share in the range of $0.54 to $0.59 as compared to its previously estimated range for diluted earnings per share of $0.30 to $0.33 and its actual third quarter fiscal 2008 diluted earnings per share of $0.30.


The Company's third quarter fiscal 2009 expectations reflect a high single digit increase in comparable store sales; a low single digit increase in Direct sales; and a gross profit margin increase of approximately 500 basis points as compared to the third quarter of fiscal 2008 which was 41.6% of revenues. This compares to the Company's previous guidance for the third quarter of fiscal 2009 of a mid-single digit decline in comparable store sales; a low to mid-single-digit decline in Direct sales; and a 100 basis point increase in gross profit margin.


The Company's outlook for the fourth quarter is based on the expectation that current trends in the third quarter will continue, however there can be no assurance that this will occur. For the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009, the Company currently expects comparable store sales to increase in the mid to high single digit range and Direct sales to increase in the low single digit range,Mens ralph lauren, as compared to the fourth quarter of fiscal 2008.


The Company's fourth quarter fiscal 2009 gross profit margin expectations remain consistent with previous guidance of a 600 basis point sequential decline from actual third quarter results to fourth quarter. The Company is providing this information given the significant expected outperformance to its original third quarter guidance and fourth quarter outlook previously provided in conjunction with the announcement of its second quarter results on August 27, 2009. Investors should not expect the Company to provide interim quarterly updates of guidance or outlook information in advance of scheduled quarterly earnings announcement dates.

The second annual Northern Virginia Fashion Week (NOVAFW) is scheduled to take place February 20 – February 27, 2010 in McLean, VA.

Notwithstanding its improved global profile led by a boom during the pre-crisis period, Indian fashion industry has been hampered by the global economic recession as reflected by stark differences in the growth rates of pre-crisis and the current period, according to the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).


The ASSOCHAM Financial Pulse (AFP) Study on “Impact of recession on Indian fashion industry” analyzed that top companies catering to the fashion industry have faced huge losses as the demand of luxury readymade apparels, leather and gems & jewellery fell down drastically which impaired the sector’s profitability.


Forming the major part of the fashion industry,Mens ralph lauren polo shirts, growth rates in the net profit of companies in readymade apparel, gems & jewellery and leather products declined by 151.7 per cent, 81.8 per cent and 445.7 per cent respectively in FY 2008-09 as against ostensible growth rates of 38.2 per cent,women ralph lauren shirts, 7.4 per cent and 87.6 per cent respectively during the pre-crisis period (2005-08).


“Even though the Indian economy is growing at a robust pace, the per-capita income of the consumers is still too low to significantly boost the purchasing power for the high-end fashion industry during the economic downturn” said Mr. Sajjan Jindal, President, ASSOCHAM.


The AFP Study carried by Assocham Research Bureau is based on the corporate results of the companies from FY 2005-06 to FY 2008-09. The analysis includes the companies which are engaged in manufacturing of readymade apparels, gems & jewellery and leather based products.


The Chamber chief said, high operating cost borne by the textile sector is the major factor responsible for the shrinkage in the net earnings of the readymade apparel companies. The CAGR of net profit in the sector,wholesale ralph lauren polo, which was 18.3 per cent during the pre-crisis period (2005-08), declined by 9 per cent in last fiscal 2008-09.


The slowdown in the economy and the major fall in the exports figure in last fiscal 2008-09 are attributable for this negative dip in the net profits of the readymade apparels sector.


Severely hit by the economic slowdown, Gems and Jewellery is another sector which dragged the fashion industry in deep trouble. The sector faced a decline of whopping 81.80 per cent in the net profit during 2008-09 as against a positive growth rate of 7 per cent during the pre-crisis period. External demand for the sector dried up due to the global recession.


The AFP Study also analyzed that leather products which include finished leather, leather footwear, leather garments & clothing, bags & handbags and other accessories & products faced the grip of slowdown and the demand of these products came down drastically. Also,Ralph lauren polo, India's leather exports posted an almost flat growth rate in 2008-09 owing to slump in demand in major overseas markets.


The companies engaged in leather sector faced a huge dip in profitability in2008-09 as the net profit declined by a staggering 445.70 per cent. In stark contrast, the sector showed a high positive growth in net profit in terms of CAGR of 87.60 per cent during the pre-crisis period.
